Frequently asked questions about medical microneedling

The skin may be reddened for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Camouflage make-up can be applied if necessary. Swelling or crusts are rare and subside quickly.

  • Anti-aging / rejuvenation: 3-6 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart
  • Acne scars: 4-6 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart
  • Stretch marks: 4-8 treatments, 4-8 weeks apart
  • Pigmentation: 4-6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart

Subsequently, 1-2 refresher treatments per year are recommended.

Initial improvements are often already visible after the first session. Clear, lasting results can be seen after 3-6 treatments. The skin continues to improve over the following 6-12 months due to the sustained collagen build-up.

  • No blood-thinning medication (e.g. aspirin, Marcumar)
  • No light-sensitizing medication (e.g. antibiotics, cortisone, antidepressants)
  • At least 4 weeks between a hyaluron treatment and microneedling

  • No skin-irritating products (fruit acids, acne ointments) for a few days
  • No sport or sauna visits for 48 hours
  • No solarium in the weeks following treatment
  • Sun protection with mineral sun protection factor

Microneedling is not suitable for: Autoimmune diseases, haemophilia, diabetes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, acute or chronic skin diseases (dermatitis, psoriasis), active herpes infections, viral warts, intake of vitamin A acid preparations in the last 6 months, antibiotics, cytostatics, bleeding tendency, acute cardiovascular problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding and sunburn.

Redness, slight swelling and occasionally small hematomas. These usually subside within a few days. Skin healing in the days following treatment is a normal part of the healing process.
